Scope: The purpose and aims of the General Standards Section is to promote the advancement of the pump industry and further the interests of the public and to this end, among other things:
a) Develop and publish standards and guidelines.
b) Address pump systems.
c) Expand knowledge and resources.
d) Educate the marketplace.

This section shall be responsible for covering the following topics:
a) Standards of a general nature that affect and or complement standards in other Sections

ANSI/HI 9.1-9.5 Pumps - General Guidelines

Current Version: 2015

Next Version: 2020

Scope: The General Guidelines Committee will limit its activity to Standards that support all industrial/commercial pumps of positive displacement and rotodynamic types. It includes types; definitions; design and application; airborne sound measurement and decontamination. The following pump types are included: Rotodynamic pump types (centrifugal, mixed flow, and axial flow) and Positive Displacement Pump Types.

HI 50.7 Electronic Data Exchange

Scope: Technical data exchanged in bidding and quoting transactions for pumping equipment. Standards are limited to those pump types supported by HI with an initial priority placed on centrifugal, rotary, vertically suspended, and slurry pump types. Data exchange standards shall utilize XML schemas developed by AEX/FIATECH. HI will collaborate with API, ANSI/ASME B73 and other standards organizations to have their pumps standards reference the HI Standard 50.7.
